The Center for Research in Feminist, Queer, and Transgender Studies Visiting Scholars Program provide opportunities for scholars from all disciplines to conduct independent research related to gender and sexuality while in residence at the University of Pennsylvania.
Scholars will be provided with shared office space at the Center, a Penn email account, and library privileges. The Center will help to identify opportunities to connect with GSWS scholars across Penn’s campus and to present work-in-progress to the GSWS community. Visiting scholars also will be given the opportunity to organize a symposium on an area related to their research. Scholars are expected to participate in Center programming. Travel, housing and living expenses are the responsibility of the Visiting Scholar. While this is an unpaid position ideal either for currently unaffiliated scholars or faculty on sabbatical or research grants, it does come with a full temporary institutional affiliation.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or its equivalent in hand at the start of affiliation. Preference will be given to candidates with a distinguished research profile. Residency may range from 3 months to one academic year. Scholars must be in residence throughout the requested timeframe of the appointment (dependent on covid restrictions).
Applications are open for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Applications are due by December 31, 2024, with decisions expected by the end of January 2025.
*Please be advised that we are unable to sponsor visa applications at this time.*

1) a completed online application form;
