Hailing from Jamaica, David Chavannes is a queer musician, researcher, and teacher. His research centers sound and storytelling as forms of knowledge that foreground senses, emotions, and collective meaning-making. He crafts narrative vignettes that grapple with race, gender, sexuality, migration, and colonialism. For this Symposium, he will present excerpts from his dissertation entitled 'Contending with Coloniality through Speculation, Storytelling, and Sound Performance.'
