Drew Gilpin Faust, Director from 1995-2000, received her Ph.D. at Penn and joined the faculty of the History Department in 1975, eventually becoming the Walter Annenberg Professor of History. She left Penn in 2000 to become the Dean of the newly reborn Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study—formerly the Bunting Institute of Radcliffe College, the only residential fellowship institute exclusively for women—and in 2007 became the 28th president of Harvard University. She is also the Lincoln Professor of History in Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
