Brook's book is the first English language biography of Hirschfeld, the pioneering sexologist and LGBT rights advocate whose research institution in Berlin was shuttered by the Nazis. Brook will talk about Hirschfeld's life and legacy, as well as the craft of writing this sort of popular intellectual biography.
