Black Trans Futurities: Political Imaginaries in the Academy and the Arts is a symposium that brings together scholars, artists, & local community members to reflect on the field of Black Trans Studies & imagine its future. Over 2 days, Black Trans Futurities will include workshop sessions, a keynote panel, a black trans poetics salon in downtown Phoenix, turn-ups, & freedom dreaming in the Phoenix Metro Area. They are seeking 20 participants working in Black Trans Studies at the intersections of black feminisms & trans of color critique. Priority will be given to graduate students, artists, and junior faculty. Che Gossett, the Associate Director of the FQT Center, will also be a keynote speaker.
