The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing (Penn Nursing) has been awarded a $3.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop and evaluate a new intervention designed to improve communication between parents and their gay or bisexual adolescent sons. The project, “Parents ASSIST: Intervention to Improve Parent Communication about Sexuality with Sexual Minority Male Adolescents,” is led by principal investigator Dalmacio Dennis Flores, PhD, ACRN, FAAN, the Class of 1942 Endowed Term Chair; Associate Professor of Nursing in the Department of Family and Community Health; GSWS Affiliated Faculty member; and Senior Fellow in Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics.
