This semester, the students of GSWS 303 have studied the intersection of gender, capitalism, and the environment using heterodox theoretical frameworks. Drawing on Marxist-feminism, Indigenous epistemologies, Black Radicalism, and queer/transgender Marxism, the students critically examined global issues of dispossession, environmental justice, and gender violence across multiple and interrelated scales. This conference offers a space for students to share original research that emerged from their experience in the course and to engage in dialogue with peers and mentors. We invite members of the Penn GSWS, Anthropology, Environmental Studies, and Perry World House communities to join us for an afternoon of learning and spirited discussion.
