The 2020 U.S. election season brings many pressing issues to the forefront in such a tumultuous, increasing polarizing political climate. These issues can make their way into classrooms, whether intentional or not. This seminar will highlight some strategies and tips for teaching during the 2020 election cycle. It will cover topics regarding how to intentionally incorporate the election into teaching and in the classroom, as well as how to deal with unanticipated events that may arise in the classroom in response to what is happening in the election. Pilar Gonalons-Pons, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Regina S. Baker, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology will lead the discussion about these important themes.
