The transition to online teaching poses particular challenges for those invested in teaching sexuality and gender studies. Please join us for a conversation with Maria Murphy (APC Interim AD), Archana Kaku (Ph.D. Political Science) and Kiana Murphy (Ph.D. English) to discuss strategies for teaching gender studies online. This session will address what particular challenges arise around the gender studies classroom. We will question the effects that virtual learning places on privacy, safety, and intellectual openness for students. We will focus on the practical work of (re)designing syllabi, lesson plans, and assignments. And, we will address precarity of teaching online for graduate instructors.

This session will also make available the resources of the new GSWS Graduate Teaching Library, which is a collaborative space for us to share syllabi, assignments, resources, and anything else necessary to support one another in our teaching online and in person.

If you are pursuing the GSWS Graduate Certificate this event counts towards section 2 of your requirements, “Professional Development."
