Friday, September 28, 2012 - 9:30am

Please join us in Room 436, Cohen Hall for this installment of the Graduate Student Pedagogy Seminar Series. This session will be led by Prof. Claudia Valeggia (Anthropology).

Professor Claudia Valeggia, Department of Anthropology, will be leading a discussion titled: "Teaching about the Biology of Sex and Gender in the Social Sciences & Humanities"

In this seminar we will discuss the actual and perceived difficulties in reconciling biological vs. social perspectives when teaching about human sexuality. Dr. Valeggia will share her experience teaching on the biology of sex in undergraduate and graduate courses and spark some debate about how to deal with extreme views regarding the underlying causes of human behavior – especially sex/sexual behavior.
